About this tender

Novamarine RH800 - what we know.

The RH 800 is the entry point into Novamarine's RH Line, and it is the build we ask the yard for when a programme needs a genuinely capable 8-metre RIB that does not sacrifice deck space to achieve it. At 7.95m LOA with a 2.89m beam, the proportions are generous for the length class, and the hull carries twelve persons to a published top speed of 40 knots on outboard power rated at 300 hp.

What keeps this boat relevant in a competitive segment is the balance Novamarine has struck between usable deck area and seakeeping. The hull is designed to handle longer passages as readily as a day at anchor, which matters when the mothership moves and the tender is expected to cover ground in a chop rather than ideal conditions. With a draft of only 0.45m, shore access and shallow anchorages present no practical constraint.

The RH 800 sits at the compact end of the three-model RH Line, below the RH 1000 and RH 1200. For programmes where garage dimensions are tight or the tender is a second boat rather than the primary workhorse, it offers a credible specification without the footprint of a larger hull. We would put it alongside comparable Italian and European outboard RIBs in the 8-metre category where ease of handling is a stated priority alongside outright performance.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

40-knot outboard performance

Novamarine rates the RH 800 at a 40-knot top speed and 30 knots cruising on a single 300 hp outboard installation. For a hull under 8 metres carrying twelve persons, that speed envelope covers most tender and day-boat duties within a superyacht programme without overcomplicating the driveline.

02

Generous beam for the length class

A 2.89m beam on a 7.95m hull gives the RH 800 deck proportions that Novamarine compares directly to larger models in the range. The wider platform translates into practical working space for crew handling water toys or assisting guests boarding from a swim platform.

03

Shallow 0.45m draft

A draft of 0.45m means the RH 800 can approach shallow anchorages and beach landings that a heavier or deeper-draughted tender could not. Combined with the outboard installation, this also simplifies maintenance and reduces turnaround time between seasons.

04

Twelve-person certified capacity

The manufacturer lists a maximum of twelve persons, which positions the RH 800 as a practical guest-transfer and excursion tender capable of moving a substantial group in a single run, reducing the number of trips required during busy port or anchorage operations.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

What is the maximum speed of the Novamarine RH 800?
Novamarine publishes a top speed of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots for the RH 800. Both figures are quoted for the outboard configuration rated at 300 hp. Real-world performance will vary with load, sea state, and the specific engine fitted.
How many people can the RH 800 carry?
The manufacturer lists a maximum of twelve persons. This is the figure stated in the published technical specification on the Novamarine model page.
What propulsion system does the RH 800 use?
The RH 800 is an outboard-powered RIB. The specification quotes 300 hp as the engine rating. Outboard installations simplify servicing and allow straightforward engine replacement or upgrade without significant hull modification.
How does the RH 800 fit into the Novamarine range?
The RH 800 is the smallest model in the three-strong RH Line, sitting below the RH 1000 and RH 1200. It is positioned as a compact, manageable tender suitable for owners and less experienced drivers, while still offering the seakeeping and deck space associated with larger hulls in the line.
Is the RH 800 suitable for use as a yacht tender?
At 7.95m LOA and with a 0.45m draft, the RH 800 is a practical tender for superyachts with a garage or davit arrangement sized for a sub-8-metre boat. Its twelve-person capacity and 40-knot top speed cover guest transfers, excursions, and light water-toy support within a typical programme.

The yard

Novamarine

Olbia, Italy

Novamarine is a Sardinian RIB and luxury tender builder, operational from Olbia on Italy's northeastern coast. The current company in its present corporate form dates to 2008, growing out of the SNO shipyard group led by brothers Andrea and Francesco Pirro; the broader brand lineage traces back to production in Olbia from the early 1980s. The yard builds at the SNO site in Olbia, with direct sea access, and targets the superyacht support, professional, and military markets across a range of four active lines: the flagship Black Shiver (BS) series, the HD line, the RH line, and a smaller Tender series - covering hulls from roughly 4.0m out to 24.0m.

In the superyacht context, the build we ask Novamarine for is a Black Shiver: a high-capacity RIB whose foam-filled, closed-cell tubes are engineered to be puncture-resistant and non-deflating, giving meaningful safety and stability margins over a conventional air-tube collar. Hull construction runs fiberglass with vinylester resin and Kevlar reinforcement. The BS 100 (9.98m) carries up to twenty guests at up to 47 knots; the BS 120 (12.0m) is the most requested hull for professional and military programmes; the BS 160 (17.0m) steps up to a full cabin format with multi-engine outboard or sterndrive options. The BS 220 sits at the top of the range as a self-sufficient passage-capable tender. Forty-three percent of Novamarine sales go to foreign customers, and the vessels are in service with coast guard and rescue agencies alongside private superyacht programmes - a build quality signal captains and project managers read clearly.
