About this tender

Wajer 77 - what we know.

The Wajer 77 is the build we ask Wajer Yachts for when a programme needs genuine overnight capability without surrendering the open-deck character that defines the range. At 23.45m LOA with three Volvo Penta IPS 1200 D13-900hp units as standard - and the IPS 1350 D13-1000hp available as an upgrade - this is a boat that covers 350 nautical miles at cruising speed while carrying twenty passengers on deck and sleeping six below in three proper suites. Naval architecture comes from Van Oossanen, exterior and interior design from Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design; neither is a budget appointment.

The IPS driveline is the right answer here. Joystick docking on a 23m, 51-tonne hull removes the anxiety from marina arrivals, and the optional Volvo Penta Dynamic Positioning System holds position at anchor without crew on the lines. Top speed with the IPS 1350 option is 37 knots; cruising sits at 25 knots with fuel consumption quoted at 350 litres per hour in that configuration. CE-A ocean certification means the build is not hedging on sea-state capability.

Below deck the layout is more considered than the dayboat format typically delivers. A master suite with king-size bed and ocean views on both sides, a junior suite forward with 2.35m standing headroom and its own bathroom, and a midship guest cabin with bunk beds and en suite add up to six overnight berths. Two hidden deck hatches give the captain and deckhand access to a separate crew cabin and the technical room, keeping service spaces entirely clear of the guest areas.

On deck, the aft dining table under the hardtop splits and lowers electrically to form a lounge bed; the wet bar carries a grill, ice maker, fridge, and basin. A Williams 325 Jet Tender stows on board as standard equipment. The semi-automatic fender system inflates ten fenders with a single button press, and the anchor and fenders are integrated flush into the hull so the profile stays clean at anchor or alongside.

Highlights

Built for the work.

The four details we'd point out first to a captain who hasn't seen one on the water yet.

01

Triple IPS driveline with joystick

Three Volvo Penta IPS 1200 D13-900hp units are standard; the IPS 1350 D13-1000hp option raises output to 3,000 hp combined and lifts top speed to 37 knots. Volvo IPS joystick control and an optional Dynamic Positioning System make single-handed docking on a 51-tonne, 23.45m hull a realistic proposition.

02

CE-A ocean certification

The Wajer 77 carries CE category A, the most demanding classification under the Recreational Craft Directive, confirming structural and stability compliance for open-ocean conditions. Naval architecture is by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, an independent Dutch firm with a strong track record in high-performance planing hulls.

03

Three-suite overnight accommodation

Below deck are a master suite, a forward junior suite with 2.35m standing headroom, and a midship twin-berth cabin - six berths across three cabins, each with its own bathroom. A separate crew cabin with bathroom is accessed via concealed deck hatches, keeping the guest and working areas distinct.

04

Williams 325 Jet Tender on board

A Williams 325 Jet Tender is carried as standard, stowed under the aft deck with a dedicated hood and hatch arrangement. The reinforced bow and stern-and-side boarding options also make the Wajer 77 a credible superyacht chase and support vessel in its own right, as Wajer's own literature acknowledges.

05

Semi-automatic integrated fender system

Ten inflatable fenders are integrated flush into the hull and deployed with a single button press from the helm. Anchor gear is similarly recessed, preserving the clean waterline profile that distinguishes this hull from more workmanlike contemporaries.

Questions, answered

Before you enquire.

What are the standard engines on the Wajer 77, and what upgrade is available?
The standard specification uses three Volvo Penta IPS 1200 D13-900hp units. An upgrade to three Volvo Penta IPS 1350 D13-1000hp engines is available as an option, raising total output to 3,000 hp and increasing top speed to 37 knots. Fuel consumption at 25-knot cruising speed with the IPS 1350 package is quoted by Wajer at 350 litres per hour.
What certification does the Wajer 77 carry?
The Wajer 77 is certified to CE category A, the highest classification under the European Recreational Craft Directive, which covers vessels intended for use in winds above Beaufort 8 and significant wave heights above 4 metres. Naval architecture is by Van Oossanen Naval Architects.
How many people can sleep aboard the Wajer 77?
Six guests can sleep below deck across three suites: a master suite with king-size bed, a forward junior suite with a double berth and 2.35m headroom, and a midship cabin with bunk beds. Each suite has its own bathroom. A separate crew cabin with bathroom is accessible via concealed deck hatches.
Is the Wajer 77 suitable as a superyacht chase or support vessel?
Wajer markets the 77 directly to superyacht captains as a chase and support vessel. The hull features a reinforced bow for towing, both stern and side boarding points, and a Williams 325 Jet Tender stowed on board. The IPS joystick and optional Dynamic Positioning System assist close-quarters manoeuvring alongside a mothership.
What tender comes with the Wajer 77?
A Williams 325 Jet Tender is included as standard equipment, stowed under the aft deck beneath a dedicated hood and hatch arrangement. The aft deck also accommodates water toys including Sea Bobs and jet boards, with optional diving and kiteboarding equipment available.
What is the fuel capacity and range of the Wajer 77?
The Wajer 77 carries 4,795 litres of fuel, giving a quoted range of 350 nautical miles. That range figure is attributed to the IPS 1350 engine configuration. Fresh water capacity is 760 litres and black water capacity is 305 litres.

The yard

Wajer

Heeg, Netherlands

Wajer Yachts was founded in 1992 by Dorus Wajer, who built his first launches on the lakes near Amsterdam before relocating production to Heeg in the northern Dutch province of Friesland - the traditional heartland of Dutch boatbuilding. The yard remains family-owned; Dorus's son Dries joined in 2010 and has served as managing director since 2017. Design and naval architecture on current models is carried out in collaboration with Vripack, with Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design handling interiors on the flagship 55.

The range runs from the 11.83m Wajer 38 up to the 23.5m Wajer 77, with the 16.8m Wajer 55 sitting at the centre of the superyacht-support programme. All models are built entirely in-house. The tender programme is the segment we follow most closely: Wajer reports more than 70 superyacht tenders and chase boats in active operation worldwide, and the 38 S - powered by three 400 hp Mercury V10 outboards and clocked at 52 knots - is the build we put forward when a programme demands shallow-water access alongside genuine speed. The 55 carries sixteen guests and runs as a chase boat, a stowed tender, or an independent day boat depending on the mothership's itinerary.

What distinguishes the yard at the specification level is the deep-V hull geometry across all models, Volvo Penta IPS joystick manoeuvring as standard on the IPS variants, a patented pushbutton fender system, and a modular construction approach that keeps spare parts available worldwide. Build quality holds up against the larger Italian and northern-European open-boat yards; the service infrastructure - flying technicians, a pitstop maintenance concept, and a dedicated Miami base - is what captains cite when they place repeat orders.
