Tender Garage

The compartment in a superyacht's hull where the tender is stowed, launched and recovered.

The tender garage is the compartment built into a superyacht's hull where the tender is stowed and from which it is launched and recovered. It is the single most expensive box on the boat to get wrong: once built, stretching it means cutting structure and lifting the deckhead means moving the deck above.

For that reason a garage is sized backwards from the tender envelope, not forwards from the general arrangement. Length, beam at the rubrail, internal height with launch gear installed, and the door opening all bind the choice of boat. Our tender garage sizing guide covers the seven dimensions that actually decide which hull fits; the tenders pillar covers the categories that drive the envelope.
